October 2017 Net Worth

All figures are generated from Mint.com. Another really solid $18k gain. I'm getting really close to reaching escape velocity. For the first time in three months my home value actually increased about $1,000. I had record high income in September so that along with a surging market really boosted my net worth.

Starting this month my income will be a lot lower which is fine, but my net worth will be more influenced by the market from this point forward.

Also my combined checking, savings, and Lending Club accounts surpassed $410k this month which is what I plan to use to fund my retirement prior to using my 401k and later SSI.

Assets

Checking --- $12,968

  1. Question for ya. Been following you for a while but I was a little put off by the fact that you sold everything because your future was uncertain. We are doing what we are doing precisely because the future is not certain. What is your plan/strategy? Do you really believe in dividends? Is it just a hobby for You? How will you fund your retirement, you will liquidate everything and spend your cash to zero?

    1. Took2Summit,

Yeah I completely understand your frustration with me selling everything. I guess while I love dividend investing, there are so many outside influences on the markets that I become really nervous about having everything in them when I can "drawn down" and fund my retirement fully. I guess living through the 2000-2002 and 2007-2009 crashes and seeing my investment accounts halved twice makes me leary. Especially at these levels and with the FED keeping rates at ridiculous levels. May be a house of cards and don't want to risk it! I will keep investing though, but cash will stay at high levels.
