Wow! What an amazing year!! Definitely one none of us will soon forget. My net worth continued to march higher as the S&P capped off a 16% yearly gain. At one point in March the broader equity markets were down 36% from the February's high. Scary times as my net worth had briefly dropped below $800,000.
Fortunately the bear market was short lived and the losses were not only recovered, we reached new highs throughout the back half of the year.
At first glance I gained $43,000 throughout the year. Even better, that is after subtracting $36,000 in spending and some depreciation on my Jeep. In other words my portfolio generated about $84,000 in gains or $7,000 a month.
I have not received any W-2 income since retiring 35 months ago so I feel fortunate that my portfolio continues to comfortably fund my lifestyle.
The march toward $1,000,000 continues.
