Recent Buy --- XOM

Today I added to my XOM position.

  • XOM:  5 shares @ $61.88 --- Yield  5.62%

Total capital invested is $309.40 and will add $17.40 to my yearly dividends.

XOM has literally gone from the best of the majors to sucking hind tit and very well may out yield them all soon. While it is difficult to keep adding to a sizable position I will continue. XOM is closing in on a 6% yield along with an upcoming dividend raise (38 straight years I believe).

I am closely watching MMM and WBA. I really need to continue building those positions. I also noticed UPS is almost below $100 which is quite a drop. I hope to add to these next week.

Recent Stock Purchases

Today I add to my MO and Shell positions.

  • MO:  6 shares @ $47.25 --- Yield  7.11%
  • RDS-b:  7 shares @ $54.23 --- Yield  6.93%

Total capital invested is $663.11 and the combined yield is 7.01%.  These purchases will add $46.48 to my yearly dividends. MO continues to be damaged by JUUL and Shell is finally close to 7% which is a great yield for this company.

Recent Stock Purchases

Today I added to my DOW and XOM positions.

  • DOW:  6 shares @ $46.74 --- Yield  5.99%
  • XOM:  5 shares @ $64.97 --- Yield  5.36%

Total capital invested is $605.29 with a combined yield of 5.65%. These purchases will increase my yearly dividend income by $34.20.

I will continue to nibble at both of these companies at depressed levels. I am also watching Shell and BBL closely. BBL is currently yielding 7% and looks attractive right now.

December 2019 Passive Income

Here is the passive income I received from both taxable and retirement accounts.

Taxable Account

  • ABALX --- $869.21
  • Amegy CD --- $509.11
  • XOM --- 40.02
  • KHC --- $16.00

Retirement Account

  • 65/35 S&P 500/Bonds --- $1645.05

Total November 2019 passive income is $3079.39

Well that's a wrap for 2019. Exceptional year on all fronts and I am more than pleased with my monthly passive income for December as well as the year.

December was a big month for my mutual fund ABALX and the $869.21 does NOT include the end of year capital gain distribution. It is strictly the income amount. My CD income dropped and will continue to drop again this month as I have reduced the balances and the rates have reset lower.

Considering I only received $56 from individual stocks I feel good about clearing $3,000 across all accounts.

I have been added shares back and consolidating to my JPM account and hope to create the same yearly income for 2020 as I did in 2019. I have work to do.

Weekly Stock/Bond Purchases

Today I added to some existing positions and opened a new position in BND.

  • BND: 12 shares @ $84.04 --- Yield 2.70%
  • DOW  5 shares @ $52.26 --- Yield  5.36%
  • T:  6 shares @ $38.87 --- Yield  5.35%
  • WBA:  5 shares @ $54.76 --- Yield 3.34%

Total capital invested is $1776.69 and the combined yield is 3.55%. These purchases will increase my yearly dividends by $63.15.

WBA has been under pressure the last couple of days and I will continue to nibble on it. I would also like to add more BND as a replacement for some lost CD income due to falling interest rates.

2019 Year End Net Worth --- New Record

All figures except my Jeep value are generated from Mint.com.

Wow what a strong finish to an absolutely spectacular year!

The S&P finished 2019 with a 28% gain for the year and my portfolio was certainly impacted to the positive. Despite spending $36,000 throughout the year to cover my living expenses, my net worth still managed to power forward and pick up $62,000. This means that my investments throughout the year actually gained close to $100,000 ($98,000 actually, but close enough).

To say I am pleased with the results would be definitely be an understatement.

My portfolio throughout the year continued to move with a .3-.35 beta which is by design. I have a chunk of cash in CDs earning around 2% and also stocks. My 401k did most of the work and actually is closer to a .7 beta since the investments are 65/35 S&P/Vanguard bonds.

Bonds had a great year as well. In fact it's hard to find a negative other than my Wrangler lost some value as most cars do from year to year. I would hardly call it an asset, but it doesn't provide fun/entertaining transportation!

I can't wait to see what 2020 has in store and I hope everyone else out there had a killer 2019 and got a bit closer to your retirement goals. DEFY MEDIOCRITY
