- ESV: 9.96 shares @ $50.09 --- Yield 5.99%
- KMI: 14.92 shares @ $33.40 --- Yield 5.03%
- BP: 10.14 shares @ $49.20 --- Yield 4.63%
- PAYX: 12.15 shares @ $41.05 --- Yield 3.41%
Total capital invested is $2000.00 dividend equally amongst each company. The combined yield is 4.77% and will increase my yearly dividends by $95.30.
While one of my goals is creating a diversified portfolio, my primary goal is to finish the year with $14,500.00 in forward passive income. I currently am not on schedule.
For the remainder of this year I will try to increase my yearly dividends by $100.00 per week. This is an ambitious goal and will require savings rates approaching 80%. This will require a major sacrifice for the balance of this year, but I am highly confident in the long term results that will follow.
Going forward I will focus on more high yield companies in the following sectors---pharma, oil, tobacco, utilities, and telecom. Hopefully the market retreats some this year and I receive decent increases in my current holdings.
Hi
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases! I agree that your goal to increase dividends is a very ambitious.

DH,
DeleteI don't know if I can reach it, but I will give it my best effort.

Those are some great purchases, MDP.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes in trying to achieve your goal of $14.5K in dividends.

R2R,
DeleteThanks for the comment. I will give it my all and let the chips fall where they may. If nothing else I hope that the resolve to increase savings will benefit me in the long run.
Take care!

Good luck MDP! $100/week? That's really ambitious, but I like it! I'm hoping to increase my income by $100/month this year. That will be quite challenging for me!
ReplyDeleteCI,
DeleteI wish you the best of luck with your dividend income. Stretch goals with strict accountability tend to yield magnificent results.

Nice buys MDP. Even though BP's run up here over the last several months, it's still undervalued and a good pick-up at these levels. Have you thought about adding to Phillip Morris? I've thinking about increasing my position here lately with the stock down so much over the last few months, kinda wish I had picked some up when it dipped below 80. Congrats on getting your savings rate up to 80%, that's awesome.

SFZ,
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be accumulating PM along with MO, T, and BP. Hopefully these names will pull back in the coming months because I will averaging into them throughout the year. The most important thing I need to focus on however is maintaining a high savings rate.
Thanks for the comments.

Nice buys and I like your aggresive plans. We have very similiar 2014 forward dividend goals. Looking forward to watching your progress to hit the $14.5K!

AA,
DeleteThanks for the comment. I am going to grind it out one week at a time. I don't expect this to be easy, but nothing worth while is. Hopefully a few market pullbacks will occasionally provide some wind at my back throughout the year.
Stay tuned!

You pay extra-small commissions in your account, don't you? Just curious because in my country (Portugal) to buy 4 companies with €2.000 would cost more than €20... :-(
ReplyDeleteTrader,
DeleteI started using Sharebuilder a couple of months ago and really like it. I pay $12 a month which allows me to make 12 purchases a month. I make my investment decisions each Monday and then the purchases take place on Tuesday morning. If you exceed 12 purchases in a month, the cost is only $1 for each additional purchase. Again all stock purchase decisions are made by Monday afternoon and then the purchases are made on Tuesday each week.

Sacrifice now, for rewards later.
ReplyDeleteNo Nonsense Landlord,
DeleteYou nailed it. Like a farmer, I am going to plant, cultivate, and then harvest!
Take care.

Nice buys! I own all but PAYX but wouldn't mind adding them at some point. You are making a ton of progress. My forward goal is $14k by end of the year but i'm starting to fall a little behind with taxes taking a big bite out of my cash. I'm also considering a second rental, so my goal will be tough to hit. Good luck meeting yours!
ReplyDeleteAAI,
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the taxes. They definitely suck! Good luck reaching your 14k goal and acquiring your second rental. I keep dragging my feet on buying my first rental. I really need to at least start the process of identifying potential rental properties to buy.
Best wishes,
MDP
MDP,
ReplyDeleteLove how ambitious you are and congrats on the purchases! Wow, I can't even imagine being able to increase my forward dividends by $100 a week. This is going to be fun to watch :)
I also use sharebuilder, but for some reason they sent me an email saying advantage pricing is no longer available. I loved it while I had it! Any ideas why it might no longer be available to me?
Take care,
Ryan
Ryan,
DeleteI sure don't. After reviewing my transaction history this month, I was billed $12 on April 2 and then paid $1 per automatic investment purchase over 12. Hopefully Sharebuilder will continue this program.
MDP
I dug into it! It seems you are grandfathered in, so definitely don't stop your subscription. I made a mistake there! This is from the email in case you're interested:
Delete"Dear Ryan,
We're discontinuing the Advantage Pricing Program, which is a plan that can save you money on your automatic investments. But you still have a chance to subscribe to Advantage.
Subscribe now—get grandfathered
If you subscribe before February 28, 2014, you can keep those Advantage discounts as long as you like. But from then on, you can't start a new subscription, and you can't re-subscribe if you leave the program... "
All my best,
Ryan
Thanks for the heads up. I joined at the end of January. I definitely won't stop.
