  1. Wow!! $653 in dividends is fantastic MDP. Congratulations on all the dividend income - that seems like a target far away for me. But hopefully I'll get there :)

    1. R2R,

You will most certainly get there. Steady, disciplined effort each month is all it takes. Eat the elephant one bite at a time.

  2. Congrats on a great month MDP! I'm still a long way off from reaching that amount each month but I know I'll get there eventually. Do you DRIP your dividends or add them to new capital for your weekly purchases?

    Best wishes,

    1. SFZ,

I invest through my bank and Sharebuilder. I DRIP in my Sharebuilder account because it is free. Coincidently, most of my high yield companies are with Sharebuilder. I personally think it is better to DRIP high yielders because what I lose in dividend growth I more than make up for with the increased share count.

Best of luck on your journey to FI!

    1. AA,

Yeah now that tax season is over, I am going to ramp up my purchases. I have a lot of ground to make up. Let's hope for a pullback soon.

  4. Killer month! That's a lot of dividends for April, a typically slower month for me. Almost 10k into some great companies as well! Keep it up.

    1. AAI,

April is definitely a tougher dividend month than January. I picked up a $36.60 dividend from KO, but lost $83.00 from DLR because it paid in March. My high yield bond payment has dropped about $20.00 since the beginning of the year also. Oh well, I look forward to a great May!

      Best wishes,

  5. MDP,

That's some pretty awesome Dividend Income there. More then enough to cover my car payment, car insurance, and cellphone and probably still have quite a bit left over.

I agree that the DRIP strategy is going to work very well in your favor!

    1. Dividend SWAN Investor,

Thanks for stopping by. I am really excited about making the switch from mutual funds to individual stocks. I look at dividends the same way you do. This month my water and cable bills will be covered courtesy of AT&T!

  6. That's a nice portfolio with a big sum invested for April. That extra $9600 will take effect in the coming months. I am curious to see the boost it will provide in your monthly income.

I can't wait to see the results either. Snowballs take time to gain momentum so I will keep pushing the ball downhill.

Thanks for the kind words. I may not make the best decisions each week, but I would rather lose on the field than while sitting on the sidelines.
