The Game of Chicken continues: NOV Purchased

Today I added to one of my Ugly Ducklings.

  • NOV:  35 shares @ $43.86 --- Yield  4.20%

Total capital invested is $1542.05 and this will should add $64.40 to my yearly dividends.

I almost picked up some shares of ESV as well. The shares were trading in the $19.80s early today. If the shares drop back down to that level or lower, I will look to add around 75 shares. I'm also keeping my eye on TD. Under $40 is where I will pull the trigger.

Hopefully the excitement continues.....

I also invested $500 in my Lending Club account today.

  1. One of the best feelings in the world for me occurs when checking ETRADE's Income Estimator (tool that estimates potential dividends based off of my account holdings) after buying high quality stocks like NOV and seeing that yearly income estimate grow. Great purchase MDP!

    1. Anon,

Unfortunately Sharebuilder (Cap One) doesn't have that tool. My bank does though and it is wonderful. With Sharebuilder I have to manually compute the dividends. That kind of sucks, but there are worse things to in world. :-)

  2. You should rename your blog to "Big Balls, Squared".

I too would have bought some NOV if it weren't for my open put option ($50 @ 5.30). At this rate, I'm waiting for it to be assigned any day now.

ESV and NOV are priced as though they were going out of business.

    1. ADY,

Energy is a serious anchor on my portfolio. I will probably keep adding energy names, but my stomach is in need of some pepto bismol.
