June 2016 Recap

I received $272.27 in June from the following companies listed below. All dividends are reinvested.

I also made 12 stock purchases totaling $22181.55 (shown below) during the month including over $11,000 invested during the Brexit scare (Friday and then again on Monday). These purchases will add $804.08 to my yearly dividends.

While my dividend income is nowhere near my all time highs set a year ago, I am really pleased with the seeds that I planted this month. I think I picked up some pretty good companies with pretty good yields.

Unfortunately the very brief buying opportunity created by Brexit vanished as quickly as it appeared. I will continue to make monthly investments and if we have 1000 point drops I will go in a bit stronger.

Hopefully as the election approaches, we will get some more market turmoil and I can add to some of my recently created positions.

My target forward dividend goal at the beginning of the year was $3000 and that is still generally my goal for this year. If I overshoot it to $3500 or so, then no big deal.

  1. Nice month MDP. I hope you got a bit of that window, I seized a little myself. We are going to keep crushing it this year!

  2. You have been crazy busy in June. That's a serious amount of fresh capital being deployed. The next three months should look a lot more attractive in terms of passive income earned. You planted some serious seeds!

    1. DivHut,

Yeah I fell like a recoiled spring that has been released! I just have to try to remain composed until the real pullbacks surface. I am excited rebuilding this pipeline though!

  3. Wow that some huge capital put to work at just the right time as we've already seen the markets bounce back. I wish I had the capital to do that same. Good work.

    1. Captain,

Yeah that pullback was very short lived. I was hoping for something more like we saw back in January and February. Maybe with the upcoming election we will get more opportunities. Stay alert!

  4. MDP,

Great reinvestment there, scooping up a few shares of PFE and BP through DRIP is awesome. You just went through a blizzard with the size of the snowball you built in June, pumped for your next 6 months.

    1. Lanny,

The markets are like fishing right now. Once you feel the nibble you have to act quickly and reel in the bargains before they vanish. Keep up the outstanding work on your side, bud! You are killing it!!

    1. IH,

Thanks so much. I hope we have some more scares that drop the market without creating an actual recession.

  6. Lots of good purchases there and a great month as well. I really like GILD at their current price - think it'll be a good long term play.

    1. timeinthemarketblog,

Yeah, GILD looks pretty nice right now. I would really like to make another purchase in the 70s. I don't know if I will get the chance though.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Boy you sure did dive in. I did as well sinking even more that that back in the market. Thought it was going to keep going down but come Tuesday it all bounced back and now I am ahead. Very interesting times we live in for sure.

    1. DFG,

I feel your pain with the market rebound. I keep thinking the closer we get to election time, the more volatile things will become. The market can get pretty crazy in the August-October time period. I hope that is the case again this year.

  8. Ha! Your end made me laugh. If I overshoot my goal by 16% then so be it. I wish I could accidentally outperform my forecasts by 16%. In all reality though you had a solid month of dividends and putting that much cash to work during the Brexit hiccup was nice. All the best in the second half of the year.

    1. JC,

:-) Thanks buddy! As you well know, the energy market is bouncing around all over the place here in Houston and it's hard to tell what may happen in any given month. I would love to see another big drop that lasts more than two days. We'll see how it goes.

      Take care!
