Today I added to my MO position and initiated a new position in ABBV
- MO: 30 shares @ $47.70 --- Yield 6.71%
- ABBV: 20 shares @ $66.49 --- Yield 6.44%
Total capital invested is $2760.80. The combined yield is 6.58% and will add $181.60 to my yearly dividends. These are commission free trades through Chase.
This is my first stock purchase since January. I'm always interested in adding shares of MO especially when the yield is around 7%.
While the market keeps reaching new highs, ABBV continues its painful descent having dropped almost $60 a share over the past year and a half. Hopefully the dividend is safe. I would hate to see it follow the paths of TEVA, GE, and TUP.

ReplyDeleteHello! Congratulations It was a very good choice for both companies. I buy ABBV too, I have OXY on the list now and JNJ- I am thinking what new company is in my portfolio
OC,
DeleteIf JNJ gets to $120 I'll be all over it. We'll see.

Nicely done Big Guy! Been buying MO myself and sold a bunch of puts against it, hoping they will get assigned. Have had ABBV and ABT for years! Long-term winners as well! Beautiful picks and love to see you living the dream!
ReplyDeleteAnon,
DeleteSounds like a solid strategy! Living the dream is definitely a good way to describe my #currentsituation.

MDP -
ReplyDeleteGood Lord. Massive yield and massive dividends added, hope this plays out well for all of us.

Lanny,
DeleteI'm with you buddy! Tobacco and drugs stocks are constantly under heavy negative headlines from both society and the government. Big MO typically keeps chugging along. Hopefully that continues.
