CLX raises dividend 4.05% --- New yield is 2.88%

Today Clorox announced that it is raising its quarterly dividend from $.74 to $.77 a share. This is a 4.05% increase and the new yield is 2.88%.

The record date is July 22nd and the pay date is August 7th.

Since I currently own 54.45 shares, my yearly dividends will increase by $6.53.

While I was hoping for a larger increase, 4% is not surprising especially after the 3% increase from Procter last month.

  1. My Dividend Pipeline,

Congrats on the raise. Each dividend raise means more income. Majority of people do not get raises at their jobs like this or raises at all besides the cost of living increases from time to time. You get a raise in your dividend income with no effort on your part besides the reseach to make the investment.

    1. IP,

I guess every raise is good thing. Clorox seems to be performing pretty well so I had a slight hope that the raise my be larger. Considering the payout ratio has been climbing in recent years, this is probably a good move.

  2. The consumer staples multinationals are facing slow sales growth and currency headwinds. That being said, every little raise counts toward compounding future income and returns!

    1. Bryan,

I am really liking PG now that it is in the 70s. I know it's probably still a bit overvalued, but with a dividend yield around 3.3% I will probably continue to buy shares. If they get their act together, $100 here we come!

  3. That raise is disappointing. I am still holding on, but I will not add any new money, and will use the dividend to allocate elsewhere.

Good luck in your investing MDP! But please watch out for those options ;-)

    1. DGI,

Normally I would be disappointed, but the Procter raise prepared me for this smaller raise from Clorox. Clorox as a stock actually has performed really well unlike Procter. CLX actually reminds me of WM. Great performing stock but small dividend raises. I too will hold on and will most likely add around 3.5% if and when that happens.
