Stock purchase: WPC

Well the CAG proceeds didn't last very long. Today I added to my WPC position.

  • WPC:  25 shares @ $61.41 --- Yield 6.21%

Total capital invested is $1542.20. This puchase will add $95.40 to my yearly dividends. This will probably conclude my REIT buying spree that I have been on during the last month or so.

    1. R2R,

A 6% yield and steady dividend growth. What is not to love? I think REITs will be shaky for a while longer, but along with oil I am at a full position for now. On to utilities. :-)

    3. Ive been looking closely at the utilities too, MDP. Some really interesting choices there - and some are already at a good valuation.

Looking forward to see which one you buy

    4. Adam,

I will probably stick with SO for now since I have already started a position. Later on I might add a second utility.

  2. Markets ralley and REITs tank. A nice opportunity to add some more! I'm keeping a close eye on REITs, namely VTR, HCN and WPC. I like HCP but I feel that I have enough.

Great buy. I keep wondering if REITs have bottomed. It's hard to imagin that their dividend yields could go higher.

    1. ADY,

The yields are high, but I remember buying DLR when it was yielding 7% back in 2013. Seeing REITs in the 6-8% wouldn't surprise me especially with rising interest rates. We'll see.

Nice work adding close to $100 annually. Looks like this is a hot stock as of late, congrats on the purchase!

    1. Lanny,

The long march continues. Where and when it ends no one knows. I might take a pit stop or two in the coming months :-)

    1. Michale Wong,

Thanks for the comment and the link. By the way, how did you insert a link into a comment? I know it's an off the wall question, but I seriously would like to know how you did that.

  5. Thanks for sharing your recent REIT buy. The REITs seem to have stabilized a bit in the last week or so after the Fed was a 'no show' for a rate hike. I know we'll get much better buying opps once the interest rate hike chatter will make headlines again. Nice buy with WPC. It, along with O, NHI, LTC, OHI, DLR and AVB are on my mind.

    1. DivHut,

We shall see. It would surprise me to see REITs head in either direction quite honestly. I will try to add to non REIT positions as I am at about a 6% position in the sector.

  6. MDP,

I knew you would deploy at least some of that money right away. Nice strong income play.
