Weekly Sharebuilder Purchases

Here are my automatic investments for this week.

  • T:  8.82 shares @ $34.02 --- Yield  5.53%
  • CAT:  3.55 shares @ $84.10 --- Yield  3.33%
  • XOM:  3.36 shares @ $89.60 --- Yield  3.08%
  • JNJ: 2.97 shares @ $100.66 --- Yield 2.78%

Total capital invested this week is $1200 ($300 in each company). The combined yield is 3.68% and will add $44.16 to my yearly dividends.

Another week is in the books and the snowball is bit larger than last week. This is a pretty boring group of companies, but that is ok. Sometimes boring can be good. I plan to continue slowly adding quality names at this pace and then hopefully ramp up purchases sometime around May.

Other companies on my radar include BAX, PG, PM, NOV, KO, and HCP.

Stay relentless in your pursuit of FI!

  1. Some solid companies here. The goal is to build a monster, and your weekly buys are doing that. They've been creeping back up in size lately, which I'm attributing to your better financial picture (rebuilt some savings) from a few months of work.

    1. W2R,

Yeah, I hope to increase the purchases in the next couple of months. My tax bill should be quite a bit lower than last year because I increase my withholding rate during the last quarter of last year. I'm looking forward to buying more shares in the future.

  3. I haven't been monitor JNJ for a few days and it climbed up to above $100? Blah I hope the price goes down again so I can add to our existing position.

    Solid buys all around.

Thanks. I have been slowly adding JNJ and hope to continue getting shares at $100 or lower.

    1. DH,

Boring can be good. I have plenty of exciting companies in my portfolio that at time give me indigestion. Hopefully I can continue to smooth out my portfolio with less volatile companies.

  5. MDP,

NICE pickups. I'm looking hard at CAT and HCP and nice knowing you used an opp. to pick some up. Great bang to the dividend income as well. Talk soon MDP.

I like the two you mentioned. HCP is back on my radar as it drifts towards $40.

I have noticed that both JNJ and BAX have been popular lately. Good luck with your purchases.

  7. AT&T (T) scares the hell out of me buddy....... but HP, JNJ and NOV are all getting interesting. Your success is all but assured given your weekly contributions. Grow that snowball!

    1. Bryan,

I have seen scary and it doesn't look like T. It looks like ESV right now. I just received my Direct TV bill and I am more confident with this purchase as it should really help T's bottom line going forward.

  8. MDP,

Boring often is very good. I'll take boring and effective any day. That is a nice spread you picked up.

Long JNJ and T as well,

    1. DG,

Yes. Boring and effective is a good combination. After loading up in energy companies late last year, I am trying to rebalance a bit into hopefully less volatile names.

  10. Great new buys all around. Boring = exciting for me when it comes to dividend payments. I added to my CAT as well not that long ago and JNJ has started to interest me as well. Thanks for sharing.
