Recent Buy --- GIS

Today I added to my GIS position.

  • GIS:  40 shares @ $57.49 --- Yield  3.34%

Total capital invested is $2306.47 and will add $76.80 to my yearly dividends.

My GIS share count is now sitting at 70. I am looking to build this up to 150 shares.

Forward dividends are $8125.00.

  1. Nice buy! Why not go with another broker? There are so many out there that either offer free trades base on your account balance or even at a lower rate that you are paying now.

    1. Nandy,

A couple of reason. First I normally spend about $40 a month on trade commissions. My investment totals typically exceed 10k per month so the per trade percentage is small. Secondly and more important, Sharebuilder offers $100 on $15k transfers throughout the year and by year end my purchases are essentially free!

  2. Nice buy there.
Can I suggest another image upload software easier than taking it with a physical camera. Something like Gyazo or Puush. Will make uploading your shots a lot easier.

    1. BHL,

Wow! Yeah as I have mentioned in the past my computer skills suck so it's lucky the blog is as "sophisticated" as it is :) I'm old school and will probably stick with the camera! Never say never though!!

Dude go by DiviendDriven and check out his leader board. There are some serious heavy hitters over there. I'm just trying to make my way through the pack!

  4. Stock price falls... yield goes up. I like this name. It's on my watch list for April and no doubt the food staples are unloved these days. Buy when others are selling. Nice job.

    1. DivHut,

Definitely! Low beta and solid yield. I need to build a pure food position and GIS is pretty good. If MCD comes back down I'll gladly pick some up.

  5. Nice pick up. They are on my watch list as I would love to add more to my current position. They have a solid yield and provide a lot of value at the current price. That will add a decent amount of income to your portfolio. Great buy!
