May 2020 Passive Income

Here is the passive income I received from both taxable and retirement accounts.

Taxable Account

  • Amegy CD --- $421.28
  • OHI --- $174.20
  • T --- $169.00
  • GIS --- $49.00
  • CL --- $36.52
  • BND --- $6.26

Retirement Account

  • 65/35 S&P 500/Bonds --- $225.62

Total May 2020 passive income is $1068.28

The income keeps plugging along as the markets and economy gain more traction. I am well on my way to eclipsing last year's passive income totals even with some pretty serious dividend cuts. Hopefully some of the reduced dividends will be restored later this year and early next year.

Next year will be another interest rate reset on some of my CD's so I'll continue moving funds into dividend stocks. Stocks like PFE and SO are becoming more attractive and are currently yielding around 5%. KO nearing 4% is always a good play as well. Hope to add some of all in the near future.

May 2020 Net Worth

All figures except my Jeep value are generated from Mint.com.

Back to back big moves up! The market surged about 5% in May and the portfolio definitely responded. The net worth ended withing 30k of my January all time high and the YOY numbers actually showed a gain of $17k

Pandemics, social unrest, hurricane season, endless bailout, depression-like unemployment seems to have to lasting effect on the markets. This is CRAZY!

The first 28 months of retirement have been an adventure! If there was a way possible to insulate myself from all market related and news related events, I would simply see that my NW has dropped by $12k despite spending $80k enjoying life! That would be a totally acceptable draw dawn by any measure.

Of course it's the chaos that creates the opportunities and therefore helps keep the NW moving in the right direction. I would love to simply ignore all things market related, but that clearly will never happen. At least until I'm closer to death lol.

I hope everyone out there is safe and is able to within the social and financial turmoil in the world right now. Don't be to distracted and stay the course!

Stay well everyone and keep adding fuel to the FIRE (not fire like the above photo)!
