- ARCP: 24.49 shares @ $12.25 --- Yield 8.16% (speculative)
- VZ: 12.14 shares @ $49.44 --- Yield 4.29%
- BBL: 9.51 shares @ $63.07 --- Yield 3.74%
- PFE: 20.37 shares @ $29.46 --- Yield 3.53%
- BAX: 8.16 shares @ $73.56 --- Yield 2.83%
Total capital invested is $2700 ($300 in ARCP and $600 each in VZ, BBL, PFE, and BAX). The combined yield is 4.10% and will add 110.82 to my yearly dividends.
$100/week Challenge---Week 7
I had planned on buying Clorox and Altria this week, but they both have been heading straight up! I have not added to BHP or Baxter in the last several months but I like the recent pullback in both. ARCP continues to be speculative, but if the dividend can be covered this will look like one of the bargains of the year.
Stocks on my radar for next week are IBM, BBL, PG, VZ, BAX, and APU.
BAX is my favorite choice from your recent purchases. So far so good with your $100 a week challenge. This is a very brisk pace you are keeping up. Still don't quite get the allure of ARCP. At least you clearly mention it is speculative. I'm not sure how long that dividend can be sustained. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDivHut,
DeleteI was hoping to accumulate shares of BAX when it was in the 60's but it jumped up to mid 70's quickly. I like it since it has good dividend growth potential. The starting yield leaves a lot to be desired though.

Nice big investment yet again this week.. PFE is my fave out of that lot especially since the pullback from last month.
ReplyDeleteGood Day and Grind On!
AG,
DeleteI like PFE also. With all the AZN takeover news the last few weeks have been crazy. Hopefully Pfizer regroups and refocuses on its own business.

I like PFE and BAX purchases. Those are couple of stocks that I am looking to initiate positions in since I don't have exposure to any healthcare stocks. I also was planning to get CLX this week, but like you mentioned, it shot up 3% on Monday. Hopefully it pulls back a bit soon.
ReplyDeleteSince you mention you use sharebuilder, I got a quick question. I believe you do automatic purchases since you are doing weekly on Tuesday. And their site says it is 3.95 for automatic trades and 6.95 for normal trades. So does that mean for today's purchase are you charged ~$20.00 since there were 5 transactions? And what exactly does "automatic" mean? Can I still give limit price etc?
ReplyDeleteDG Journey,
DeleteWhen I signed up for Sharebuilder in January, the policy was $12 per month for 12 automatic investments. The stocks have to be selected by the market close on Monday and the purchases go through on Tuesday morning. If I choose to make more than 12 purchases in a month then it costs $1 per each additional purchase that is made on Tuesday. So yesterdays transactions amounted to $5.

I checked with Sharebuilder and looks like they discontinued this pricing option. Currently it is $3.95 per automatic trade. Looks like you got a great deal :)
