Weekly Sharebuilder Purchases

Here are my automatic investments for this week.

  • VZ:  15.12 shares @ $49.53 --- Yield  4.28%
  • PFE:  25.47 shares @ $29.41 --- Yield  3.54%
  • CAG:  25.97 shares @ $28.84 --- Yield  3.47%  (initial position)
  • PG:  9.44 shares @ $79.37 --- Yield  3.24%

Total capital invested this week is $3000 ($750 in each company).  The combined yield of these purchases is 3.63% and will add $108.98 to my yearly dividends.

$100/week Challenge---Week 9

I keep telling myself to stop buying shares of Pfizer and here I am buying more shares.  I don't have any food companies in my portfolio so I have chosen the ugliest duckling of the group in Conagra. Conagra has a great stable of brands that are definitely out of favor for now.  Hopefully this will be a good contrarian play. Procter has been drifting lower and at 3.24% or higher I will keep adding more shares.  I have over 300 shares of AT&T so I have been accumulating shares of VZ as a counterbalance.

Stocks on my radar for next week are BP, RDS-b, VZ, BBL, APU, ARCP, and TCAP.

  1. MDP,

Looks like some solid purchases there! Very nice yield across the board.

PG is one I need to add to at some point. Really one of my favorite companies, but I haven't been able to get on board with the valuation here, especially with the dramatically slowing growth of late. But some of the initiatives have been exciting, especially as they sell off some underperforming brands.

    Best wishes!

    1. DM,

PG is solid and is a steady "go to" company that won't disappoint over the long run. I will probably add to this position throughout the year.

      Thanks for the comment.

  2. Solid buys! I only own VZ but would like to add PG at some point. I ended up getting UL recently instead. You are plowing some serious capital into the markets each week.

    1. Thanks Brent. I really want to get out of the rat race in the next few years and am laser focused on building my passive income stream.

    1. AA,

Thanks buddy. I keep adding more coal to the furnace each week just like you. You can't go wrong with PG.

  4. Nice picks there. I have started looking into CAG after the recent hit to the stock. It is trading at 52 week low now and could be a good entry point. The only factor that is holding me is their dividend history. They have not been raising dividends consistently.
PG looks attractive and I am looking to add to my existing position.

    1. DGJ,

Their erratic dividend growth worries me as well. The yield is good and I am not a rigid as others about getting a raise every year. If there is a freeze for over 3 years then I might rethink the positions. Hopefully the price is near the bottom here and I can enjoy a 3.5% yield while the company gets its business back on track.

    1. AG,

I'm doing my best to keep the streak alive. This month will be a killer as there are 5 Tuesdays to invest. High yielders will be on my shopping list this week. As for CAG, it's not your typical DG stock, but I like the yield and I will be keeping a close eye on it.

  6. All look like long term winners in my book. I like your start in CAG. That's a stock that has been in the back of my mind for a long, long time and I just never pulled the trigger on that one. I am pretty heavy in the consumer staple sector now but wouldn't mind keeping an eye on CAG. Thanks for bringing it to my attention again. Look forward to your next purchases.

    1. DivHut,

Yeah I hear you on CAG. It looks decent as a value play but the dividend growth is not impressive and at times is inconsistent. The yield looks good here and I'll be patient with the company as it tries to work out some of its problems.

  7. MDP,

You are straight up killing it! Your dividend income stream is going to be amazing/already is and I'm curious to see what 2015 will have in store for you. Keep it going, dig it.

    1. Ryan,

Thanks for the support. It has not been easy...long work weeks, overpriced market, etc. but the end game is FI Asap!
