Weekly Sharebuilder Purchases

Here are my automatic investments for this week.

  • VZ:  19.32 shares @ $49.17 --- Yield  4.31%
  • CLX:  10.56 shares @ $89.97 --- Yield  3.29%
  • PG:  11.96 shares @ $79.42 --- Yield  3.24%

Total capital invested this week is $2850 ($950 is each company).  The combined combined yield of these purchases is 3.61% and will add $102.89 to my yearly dividends.

$100/week Challenge---Week 8

This week I decided to backfill some positions that I am light in.  Clorox and Procter at 3.2% look like decent buys and VZ is fully valued here in my opinion.

Looking at July's calander I just realized that there are 5 Tuesdays.  This means I will have to make 5 purchases and my dividends will have to increase over $500 in order to keep pace.  I will probably add some high yielders in order to get through the next month.

Stocks on my radar for the coming weeks include BP, RDS-b, ESV, T, VZ, BBL, APU, TCAP, and SNH.

  1. Good buys there. I wouldn't mind adding to my PG position as well in the future. Lots of Energy in your watchlist. ESV on my watchlist as well

    1. AG,

Thanks buddy. Energy, telecom, and REITS will be on my radar for the next few weeks.

  2. Love that yield you gained with these new purchases. CLX and PG might be a bit pricey these days but when you are in for the long haul paying up for a nice yield and solid dividend growth is OK too. Thanks for sharing!

    1. DivHut,

I love PG as a long time holding. Clorox is interesting in that it is a solid dividend company and a potential takeover target. I will keep adding to both throughout the year.

  3. MDP - keep it up! All three you picked this week are solid. I'm just amazed that you continue to meet your $100/week challenge. Over $800 added to your yearly dividend in just two months, you are rocking it!

    Wishing you continued success! AFFJ

    1. AFFJ,

Thanks for the support. It is an extreme combination of long hours at work and extremely low expenses. A working wife, no kids, and a paid off house helps tremendously.

    2. Too late for "no kids" for me but I can still work on "a working wife" and "a paid off house" Love my kids to death but they do impact one's path to FI. :)

    3. I am fortunate to have my wife willing to work AFFJ. Having two oars in the water is much better than only one. Although there have been times when I thought she was in the back of the boat dropping an anchor in the water. :-)

  4. MDP,

Wow. Amazing work here. You just keep buying them up! Leave some for the rest of us. :)

Great companies, and all great long-term holdings. $100/week in dividend income is astounding. I'm happy if I can get to $100/month.

    Keep up the great work.

    Best wishes!

    1. DM,

Thanks for encouragement. Working six days a week, zero debt, and a working wife makes it all possible. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel gives me inspiration and determination. If I can keep this pace, all basic expenses will be covered by this time next year.

  5. Nice purchases. Its amazing that you are able to add over 100/week in future dividends consistently each week. Like you said, a working wife and no debt definitely helps.

I am trying to add my position in PG as well as initiate a position in CLX. They are a bit pricey now, but might do it soon.

    1. DGJ,

I really like PG and the price always seems to be around 80. I'll just add a piece here and there especially if it falls into the mid 70s.

      Thanks for stopping over.

  6. I like all your purchases. Thanks for sharing your watch list. As a girl who likes sales, I noticed at least 3 high yielders on your list, which I will start tracking and researching - SNH, APU and TCAP because they are not trading at their highest.

    1. HHWG,

I am looking at a few high yielders for next month. These are not what I would refer to as "cornerstone" companies. Another high yielder that I like is ESV and I have been buying shares throughout the year. There are less speculative utilities and REITs such as SO, ED, O, and VTR, but I feel like utilities and REITS should be 6% or better.
