November 2016 Recap

Here is the summary of the dividends I received in my taxable account.

  • HCP --- $76.41
  • VZ --- $29.71
  • ABT --- $26.15
  • TIS --- $21.00
  • AAPL --- $14.33
  • NEA --- $7.54

Total dividend income received for November is $175.14

I'm really pleased with November's results and other than HCP, most of the income is fairly evenly distributed.

I was down just a bit when compared to August's result, however most of that can be attributed to the HCP cut. These things happen and the only thing to do is move on and keep adding to the portfolio and replacing the lost income..

I was also able to contribute $18537.17 to the portfolio.  These new contributions will add an additional $700.36 to my forward dividends.

During the month of December I will be looking to add to current positions as well as adding a few small dogs of the dow companies (PG, CSCO, GE, KO, and VZ are amazing companies).

Forward dividends are around $5000.

  2. Just keep piling into those solid dividend payers and watch that passive income grow really fast. Lots of great names paying you for the month and as you know cuts are part of the DGI game. They just happen. No biggie, just keep a nice diversified portfolio and you'll always have income rolling in, more or less.

    1. DivHut,

The cuts are indeed part of the game and hopefully HCP along with QCP will become better performers with time. I am going to follow your lead and try and keep the payouts spread as evenly as possible between companies so no one company impacts my income too much!

  3. MDP -

Nice work this last month. Think QCP will have a divvy? Their asses better have a payout, and I would expect them/more than likely are required, but how much will be very hard to predict.

Keep it going MDP, big month here.

    1. Lanny,

I don't get a warm and fuzzy with QCP right now, but as we all know things can change quickly. Hopefully at least a 3% divvy will materialize.

  4. $18K and $700 additional dividend? Wow, that's something. Although, I consider all of your buys are well time as the market ran up pretty quickly to the 19K. Congrats!

    1. vivanne,

There are pockets of opportunities in a rising market and luckily for us most of them are dividend paying stocks right now. Drugs, tobacco, utilities, and consumer staples seem to be where to opportunities lie. I'll gladly take advantage of the bargains as they appear.

  5. I know $175 bucks is no large feat for your portfolios of past, but $18,000 invest, holy moly man. That is going to pay dividends! Your passive income is going to be back at its old levels in absolutely no time. Looking forward to continuing to following along. Enjoy the final month of the year!

    1. DS,

I really appreciate the comment and I hope you enjoy December as well. Yeah things are ramping up pretty quickly and I am glad to see some solid dividend companies lagging behind the market. I just notice JNJ is down around 110. It's yield is quickly approaching 3% and we all know the dividend growth history.
