Recent Buy --- PFE

Today I added some more share to my PFE position

  • PFE:  75 shares @ $32.56 --- Yield  3.93%

Total capital invested is $2448.94 and will increase my yearly dividends by $96. Buying Pfizer around 4% usually has worked out pretty well for me over the past few years. Right now I have approximately 383 shares, but 300 of them have a $32 covered call attached to them which expires next month.

Those share are earning a $1.28 premium so I will probably close out the option early and keep a $100 or so profit from the trade rather than risk losing the shares.

Anyway, I am now about $150 away from my year end goal of $6000 in forward dividends.

Forward dividends are around $5850..

    1. D&H,

I have a couple of more purchases to make this year and will certainly reach $6k by Friday!

Great investment, keep beefing up on the Pfizer, massive pharm. Solid div increases, keep it rolling, making your moves on your own time, your own dime, your own way. I dig it.

    1. Lanny,

Yeah I think I have a pretty solid list of companies at 36. I will probably add 5 to 10 for further diversification, but I plan to add to existing positions for the most part in coming years.

  3. Nice pick up with PFE. No doubt a great current yield but that TTM payout ratio is a bit high at 118. Any idea what's causing that? Thanks for sharing.

    1. DivHut,

Yield looks good obviously due to a falling stock price (Dow Dog), but the payout ratio is scary right now. The good news is the large pile of cash can carry them through for a while.

I have just come to expect that sometimes companies temporarily have to deal with flipped divvy/income ratios. CAT and XOM are pretty good examples and had 6% and 4% yields earlier this year as they were recovering from the oil crash. Pfizer has had solid dividend growth in recently years, but did have a serious cut around '09. So did GE and many large great banks. I have come to accept these events and will continue trying to buy where I see value.
