Random Blog Charts

Last week Asset Grinder posted some of his blog stats.  That got me to thinking what do my blog stats look like? Quite honestly I really never expected anyone to stop by. But I certainly am glad people find some benefit to my weekly posts. Anyway the last month, last week, and the YTD charts are shown below.

Why are my charts blacked out? Who the hell knows. Other than a few random "cut and paste" codes that I copied from a Google search, I have not made any technical adjustments as those  could prove fatal to an already fragile blog structure. :-) Copying and pasting these charts along with trying to write on the side of the charts was a chore in itself. This may be the first and last time I ever do this. And why is the word time in the last sentence out of line????

What happens when Dividend Mantra mentions you on his blog? That big spike up over 2,100 page views in one day is what happens. That is like a giant steroid boost!

Graph of Blogger page views

My typical week normally looks like the chart on the left between 400 and 600 views a day.

Graph of Blogger page viewsAfter a rather slow start back in January, My pageviews have increased each month. In November I had 17,950 pageviews for the month. Will I ever reach 20,000 pageviews? Odds are probably better that I hit $20,000 in forward dividends first.

  2. Great progress MDP. Haha, I think all sites experience a spike that that when Jason mentions them.....or features them in the weekend reading. I know IncomeSurfer.com does. Congrats on nearing 20k per month

I don't know if 20k is in the future or not, but we shall see!

  4. MDP,

Wow! I didn't know I had that kind of effect. Glad I was able to bring some traffic your way. :)

I've found blog traffic and overall success to be exponential, not linear. It's just like investing. So I wouldn't be surprised if you cross 20,000 pageviews per monnth pretty quickly.

    Keep it up!

    Best regards.

    1. DM,

Yes! Your influential umbrella is HUGE and you many of us under it.

  5. The word "time" is out of line because your html contains an empty div that is 147 pixels tall and a few pixels wide that is taking up the space above "time" and to the left of the previous sentences. You could simply delete the div if you are comfortable editing your html.

Your images have the dark background because your css sets image backgrounds to #333333 which is the color you see. You could change it to #ffffff if you want a white background. Again, a simple change if you are comfortable editing your css. :)

    1. AM,

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately with me it is like putting advanced differential calculus in front of a 3rd grader. :-) I hit the HTML button and immediately left once I saw the maze.

  6. Lol loved this post from u. The whole chart on the left and text on the right is hilarious because I often give up trying to do simple lil things like this. I am baffled at times how things dont line up when u publish but look fine in preview. Those numbers are lookin good. Surprised u Havent enabled adsense yet. Why not give it a go!!!! Your overall chart look great as you are gaining steam. I have been steady but not really growing my numbers. Its all about hard work and original posts which I dont have enough of. Gotta kick myself in the butt to do any kind of real writing!

    1. AG,

Needless to say I am not a "graph master" and HTML is like a foreign language to me.

  7. MDP,

You will cross 20K no doubt - I am guessing no later than end of January. Thanks for sharing and nice upward trajectory - just keep up with the posts and bringing the real feel of a dividend pipeline investor to your posts and your traction will continue to gain. No stopping now!

    1. Lanny,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I may or may not every cross 20k pageviews. Hell at the beginning of the year I would have been shocked to hit 1k in pageviews for the whole year.

I have thought about it, however for what I do the current setup is fine. Of course things could change in the future.

Ah, yes, the effect of Jason mentioning you in his blog. He's got quite the audience!

  9. Hi MDP,

Your first paragraph me made me laugh. As I was reading the text at the start I could see the red 'time', and I was thinking what the hell was going on. It made me feel far less of an idiot on the computer and I thank you for that!

Interesting data, Especially since you've been doing this less than a year. Your extreme/aggressive investing approach has been very appealing to watch, and is a big draw for me personally. That and your humour!

I would bet that you exceed 20,000 views it in the next couple of months. I also agree with Asset Grinder, and recommend Google Adsense. My viewing numbers are approximately half of yours and I'm still making a few quid every month. Adsense is one of the biggest earners on Blogs, and it doesn't involve a lot of work.

Anyways, good luck on the 20,000, and keep up the good work!

Computers are water and I am the cat. We just don't get along very well :-) I might try Adsense in the future. To be honest, I really just don't feel like jacking with it right now.

  10. MDP,

Those are some impressive statistics considering you've only been up and running since the beginning of this year. Well done!

Good luck on reaching the magical 20,000! I'll definitely pitch in a few page views every month.

    Best wishes,

    1. NMW,

Thanks for the kind words and the support. I really never paid much attention to the page views since not many people visited my site during the first few months. I don't know if I will hit 20,000 views anytime soon, but it will be cool if I do.

  11. MDP - I have to agree with many readers on here...your numbers are great! I'm on my 8th month and I'm only averaging half of what you get. But like Mantra stated, the numbers do appear to be exponential as our numbers have continued to grow each and every month we continue to blog.

Wishing you the best of luck at reaching 20K/month. AFFJ
