Here are my two purchases for this week.
- NOV: 5.21 shares @ $47.95 --- Yield 3.84%
- XOM: 2.96 shares @ $84.41 --- Yield 3.27%
Total capital invested is $500 ($250 in each company). The combined yield on these purchases is 3.55% and will $17.78 to my yearly dividends.
I'm wading back into the energy side of the investment pool this week. Last week I added Shell and this week I continue to build my positions in NOV and XOM. It looks like WTI is around $42 and continues to drift lower.
Companies on my radar for next week are XOM, NOV, CVX, RDS-b, BP, BBL, and CAT.
DEFY MEDIOCRITY
MDP,
ReplyDeleteYou're back in the action after a week off of no purchase! Good buys!
FFF
MDP,
DeleteThanks and that was tough to miss a Tuesday buy. Hopefully it won't happen again
MDP
MDP,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are not backing down from adding to energy names. We see that many own NOV but we are not as familiar with that one yet. XOM is obviously solid as a rock as long as people are still using oil and ancillary products, they will be at or near the top with their AAA credit rating.
Keep up the great work over there.
All the best.
FD
FD,
DeleteYeah I am riding this horse into the ground. My portfolio on the energy side is a bit rough looking, but it still represents less than 15% of my total holdings. I will probably nibble at energy positions with my weekly purchases and make larger purchases in non energy names for a while to rebalance.
MDP
MDP,
ReplyDeleteHa! The exact two stocks I FRIPed yesterday. Love it!
DWC,
DeleteGreat minds think alike!
MDP
MDP,
ReplyDeleteNice purchases and you are back on energy names. I was looking to add BBL this week as it has dropped, but ended up adding KO. Looking forward to add BBL at or below $42.
DGJ
DGJ,
DeleteI was looking closely at KO, PG, and BBL as well. I decided to continue adding to my position in XOM. NOV continues to experience weakness and is a smaller position that I want to build up.
MDP
Nice purchases as always. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteTawcan,
DeleteThanks, man! I am just adding more pieces to the puzzle one week at a time.
MDP
MDP,
ReplyDeleteGood as always. I dropped my position in DD (DuPont) recently for a few reasons, should be going long on CAT soon. Lots of good plays out there right now.
- Gremlin
DG,
DeleteInteresting decision with DD. I don't follow it closely, but I have noticed Nelson Peltz taking a more active role with the company. Big money guys like that can influence a stock that's for sure. Good luck with CAT. I plan to continue adding more shares under $80 as well.
MDP
Back into action! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteDivGuy,
DeleteThanks! It felt weird buying stocks on days other than Tuesday. All is well again.
MDP
Good buys. I am thinking about purchasing NOV. Also had a XOM put written at $80.
ReplyDeleteMU,
DeleteIf oil prices keep falling we'll be at $80 in no time. I will keep averaging down on both of these names. It is interesting how BP and Shell are up today and CVX and XOM have been down this morning.
MDP
Mdp,
ReplyDeleteGood job with your energy stocks. I own xom and is looking at NOV. My funds are a bit low so I am holding back but if these prices drop further, I will need definitely buy.
Div4son
Div4son,
DeleteHopefully the companies continue to drift lower as I still want to continue my energy build up. I will most likely continue nibbling on energy companies throughout the rest of this year.
MDP
you have bought quite a bit of energy. How big is energy in your portfolio right now? I dont mind leaning in one sector heavy as long as I got a good feeling about it.
ReplyDeleteAG,
DeleteYou are right about my energy sector being fairly large. It still only represents about 15% of my portfolio mainly because the values continue to drop. I will probably keep nibbling at the sector and make larger purchases outside of energy during the rest of this year.
MDP
MDP,
ReplyDeleteNOV is crazy cheap right now. If I didn't already have more than enough I'd be on it. :)
Cheers!
DM,
DeleteIt is crazy cheap and I have a small position right now. It probably will remain relatively small as my confidence in energy outside of the majors is slipping. Hopefully oil prices hold above $40 or things could become even more problematic for these types of companies.
MDP
added some TD yesterday, would love to get some more XOM, CVX or CAT under my belt. Looking into some more T too, think it's a great high-yield building block position.
ReplyDeleteDan,
DeleteThanks for the comment. I own all the names you mention and think they all look good at these levels. T is my biggest position behind PM.
MDP
I like NOV but just can't decide whether they're committed to being a dividend grower forever. The company has been around forever and fairly recently added the dividend. Just makes me wonder why they didn't pay on in the first 100+ years of existence.
ReplyDeleteBGH,
DeleteI absolutely agree. After the ESV debacle I will keep this position very low. It is currently less than 1% of my portfolio. I will add a few more times, but I have to watch my energy allocation.
MDP
Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for a Liebster Award here:http://www.mymoneyfesto.com/?p=242
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun way to get to know new bloggers.
All the best
Felix,
DeleteThanks for the nomination. I actually received a few of these nominations last year and wrote a post answering quite a few questions, so I probably won't create another post.
MDP
Oops, didn't notice you've already received it! My bad, didn't look in your archives.
