KMI raises dividend 6.67%---New Yield is 4.42%

Kinder Morgan, Inc. (KMI) today announced that its board of directors approved an increase in its quarterly cash dividend to $0.48 ($1.92 annualized) payable on May 15, 2015, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on April 30, 2015. This represents a 14 percent increase over the first quarter 2014 dividend of $0.42 per share ($1.68 annualized) and is up from $0.45 per share ($1.80 annualized) for the fourth quarter of 2014.

Since I currently own 234.76 shares, my yearly dividends will increase by $28.17.

KMI is an absolute beast of a company. The dividends should blow by $2.00 a share in no time at all.

Between GM and KMI, my dividends this week have increased by over $63.00 and I didn't have to invest one single extra penny!

Dividend growth at its best.

  1. Wow! Can you estimate the 1st quarter increase (vs. 4th quarter of 2014) you had even that you "didn't have to invest one single extra penny!" ?

    1. Trader,

The $28 increase is calculating the 1st vs 4th quarter increase. If I counted the year over year increase, it would be over $50. The company has had some pretty impressive increases over the last several years.

  2. Seems like the market gods have been paying you favor as of late. Glad things keep moving up on the dividend front.

    1. GYFG,

These increases were certainly larger than I had expected. In GM's case I think some of the larger shareholders forced a big dividend increase. I believe they call it shareholder activism. In any event, I'm happy my passive income continues to march forward.

  4. Loved seeing this increase from KMI. I figured they'd just continue with the smaller increase each quarter but there's no complaints with a solid 6.7% increase from them.

    1. PIP,

I was thinking a smaller raise as well. It seems like a penny is the normal raise. I guess they are trying to make sure they reach the $2.00 annual level. It's a great day to be a shareholder.

    1. Tawcan,

Yes. Getting some additional money for nothing is a good thing. Hopefully the trend continues for some other companies that are due for raises this month.

  6. Great to have a big jump like this, esp when the company raises dividends every quarter :)

    1. R2R,

I like the graphic as well. I found it using Google images. The $.03 raise was very much welcomed. It will be interesting to see what they do for the rest of the year.

Hell yeah! The quarterly raises are too cool! I'm not going to expect $.03 each quarter, but it is a nice surprise.

Awesome is a great word to describe this raise! If only they could raise it $.03 every quarter.

  10. Loved the raise! KMI is a beast and the picture you've got up there is perfect for them. I should buy some more just for the heck of it. I'm sure I won't regret the purchase 20 years from now

    1. ADD,

I don't see anything wrong with adding more shares. It would be nice to see it drop back into the 30s, but with these types of dividend increases it might not happen.
