Recent Buy --- PFE

Today I initiated a position in Pfizer.

  • PFE:  300 shares @ $28.95 --- Yield 4.15%

Total capital invested is $8,690.75 and will add $360.00 to my yearly dividends. It's tough to find any decent values in the market right now, but this purchase seems pretty solid at 4%. If the price drops into the $27 range, I'll probably add more to this position.

I was really wanting to wait a bit longer before starting any purchases again, but I get impatient as has been documented over and over again... :-) I'm actually pretty proud of the restraint I have shown in recent months.....with only the occasional buying spree.

  1. Keep it up MDP. We will have some crazy sales once the presidential election is underway. So let's get ready with some cash.
Like the purchase bud. I'm gonna pick up some PFizer tomorrow. It's been a while myself. Cheers bud.

    1. DH,

Well it looks like PFE got down to around $28.75 before it spiked way up. I hope you got some shares on the down low. :-)

    1. Tawcan,

Thanks. Pfizer may drop some more, but that is ok. I'm keeping the shares and adding more in the future! It's one of the few companies that is trading down quite a bit right now.

  3. That's quite a big purchase at an attractive yield. I just bought JNJ not too long ago but I am a bit concerned about the big pharma companies coming under fire from the presidential candidates though. Best of luck.

    1. Captain,

They are definitely the whipping boys from both sides of the political aisle. Hopefully JNJ drops back down to around $100. I would love to buy some shares myself. Great job with the purchase!

  4. hi,

don't you worry that problems which are also faced by VRX (SEC, regulators) will be also with some delay faced by other biotech/pharma companies?

    1. DividendTIME,

In a word...no. Many different companies in many different sectors are always under some form of "threat". If people ignored MO in the late 90s because of incessant tobacco litigation, they would have lost a ton of money avoiding MO. BIG drug companies always seem to survive and advance.

  5. MDP,

I love PFE. I've had them since 2010 and man, wish I could get more, but capital is fairly dry and hard to come by at the moment. Screw taxes is all I have to say right now. Congrats on the purchase and pumped for your first $90 div check to buy 3-4 more shares each time. Money.

    1. Lanny,

I love PFE too. It has come down big time during the last six months. Now if T and PM would fall back also I could really start rebuilding this pipeline! :-) Keep killing it over there my friend!!!

  6. That's a nice commitment all at once for PFE. Great name but I agree with you that values are becoming increasingly difficult to find as the market roared back from the Feb. lows. Thanks for sharing.

    1. DivHut,

Thanks! Things are definitely stretched in the market right now! Hopefully a pullback will come our way as we get closer to the election.

  7. PFE has a nice dividend yield. I have been setting up a few purchases too, but the prices keep climbing. I typically purchase ~10K -12K a month to increase my dividends a bit with IVV.

    1. NNL,

Wow!!! 10-12k a month in stock purchases is insane! Congrats and good luck with your dividends.

  8. Very good purchase with a nice dividend yield to boot. As you say, it is tough to find decent values in the market right now but with PFE I think you have got yourself a real deal.
