Here are a few more additions to the pipeline.
- VZ: 50 shares @ $49.62 --- Yield 4.55%
- SO: 50 shares @ $48.53 --- Yield 4.47%
- MSFT: 50 shares @ $50.92 --- Yield 2.83%
Total capital invested is $7474.20. These purchases have a combined yield of 3.93% and will add $293.50 to my yearly dividends.
My gut is telling me that I might be a bit early with telecoms and utilities, but I have been wrong with these two industries for a while now. Maybe my purchases will cause the values to drop. If so, I'll gladly add to both positions.
In any event, these are ho hum companies that will be good income producers if nothing else. I'm creeping back up towards $2,000 in annual dividend income. My plan is to gradually reach $3k by the end of the year. Knowing how impatient I can be at times, I may reach that level next month. :-)

DEFY MEDIOCRITY
Are these new positions or averaging down existing positions.Good to be in part of these companies.
ReplyDeletedesidividend,
DeleteThese are all new positions. I have held all three in previous years. They are great solid steady companies for sure!

Congrats on the 3 buys, all 3 should be really good for you. That's a nice big chunk of capital to deploy - congrats.

Tristan,
DeleteThanks for the kind words. I appreciate you stopping by!

Just $3,000 by year end and you're already at $2,000? I bet you hit a much higher mark at some point this year. I've been following you for a long time and don't think you can achieve such a mundane goal. You're a full-throttle kind of guy. Either completely hold yourself back or let loose. This middle ground doesn't suit you, from what I've pieced together.
ReplyDeleteWiderhaken,
DeleteNo shit! I had a feeling the Apple purchase earlier this month would release the flood gates and it appears that is exactly what has happened. :-)

MDP,
ReplyDeleteLoving VZ under $50, been a while since it's stayed steady under there, may pick some up for an individual that I manage their investments for. Interesting. Congrats on the gigantic purchases here!

Lanny,
DeleteThanks, man! VZ had a helluva run this year and is now finally getting back to reasonable levels. Hopefully it falls back into the lower 40s so we can buy some more shares.
MDP
These are great buys -- and you've been really busy buying these days! Congratulations and best of luck with your investments.
ReplyDeleteTake care

FerdiS,
DeleteThanks! I keep waiting for the Dow to fall below 17k, but it keeps rebounding. Still, there are some values out there. I'm doing my best to be patient and let the market come to me.

MDP,
ReplyDeleteIts been a while since I stopped by, and its nice to see you get some needed vacation and getting back into the game between these and the past few purchases. All of which I like, and all are companies I either already own or am watching.
Nice return to the game,

DG,
DeleteYeah it feels good adding quality companies once again. That damn market keeps bouncing every time there is a minor pullback. Oh well, that is why I will continue with regular investing throughout all market cycles.

Thanks for the update, I'm a bit gun shy about buying utilities at the moment after the recent run up in price and the threat of a rate hike looming. Still, three solid name's I wouldn't mind owning at some point.
ReplyDeleteCaptain,
DeleteI have to say that I agree with you on the utilities. However that line of thinking has kept me away from some pretty good bargains over the last few years. I am going to slowly build positions with wide purchase intervals. MSFT on the other hand looks pretty good under $50.
