October 2022 Passive Income

Here is the passive income I received during October.

MO --- $7,867.80
401k --- $216.65

Total income for the month was $8,084.45. This marks a new all time high for one month.

Thursday, August 25, 2022

MO raises dividend 4.44% --- New yield is 8.11%

Today MO raised its quarterly dividend from $.90 to $.94. This represents a 4.44% increase from last year. The dividend is payable on 10/11/22 and the ex-dividend date is 9/14/22.

While it would have been nice to see a dividend hike closer to the rate of inflation, MO was already yielding around 8% so this is somewhat expected.

Since I currently hold 8370 shares, this will increase my yearly dividends $1339.20 from $30,132 to $31,471.20.

Here is the passive income I received for July

  • MO --- $3033
  • 401K --- $227.10
Total income for the month of July is $3530.10.

Recent Purchase --- MO

Today I added to my MO position.

  • MO:  5000 shares @ $41.19 --- Yield  8.74%

Total capital invested is $205,950. This purchase will increase my dividends by $18000. This brings my total share count up to 8370 shares. Total MO dividend income is now $30,132.

MO has had a rough couple of months and now is down over 13% for the year. The headlines and downgrades have been relentless. It's these time that I typically jump in and hopefully this proves to be a good entry point.

I haven't posted this year as I have not been adding dividend stocks after selling most of them last year. Let the fun begin again!

Dec 2021 Net Worth

December was a fantastic month and capped a fantastic year.  I ended up gaining $20,000 and that was even with the purchase of an engagement ring for my fiance. Maybe I didn't spend enough on it ;)

The S&P 500 finished up 27% for the year. I believe almost 30% counting dividends. Absolutely sensational considering its 15% gain in 2000 and 31% gain in 2019. I read somewhere that since the beginning of 2019 the market has compounded at a 28% clip. Jaw dropping wealth creation.

While I didn't quite make it back to the double comma club, I'm still up $18,000 on the year after all expenses. Again, I ended up paying off my fiance's car, building a new backyard oasis, and getting engaged. Hopefully the expense column reverts to normal levels next year. We'll see!

Happy New Year everyone!

Weekly Stock Purchases

Yesterday I added to my MO position.

  • MO: 180 shares @ $47.82 --- Yield  7.53%

Total capital invested is $8607.60 and this purchase will add $648.00 to my yearly dividends.

I now have an even 1000 shares of MO which will provide $3600.00 of yearly dividend income.

I should also mention that I have 12 open $45 MO puts that have been open most of this year. The first 7 expire on Jan 21, 2022 and the other 5 expire in Jan 2023. The assignment of next month's shares would be around $41.50 so it is unlikely that I will be assigned unless MO drops $5 dollars or so during the next few weeks.

November 2021 Net Worth

November ended up being a wild ride. Patios, pergolas, landscaping and paying off my girlfriend's car did some serious damage to the net worth.

After counting all the beans I was down just over $69,000 for the month and $1200 in the red for the year. Not bad considering I have spent a ton of money this year.

It will be nice to regain Double Comma status, but living a healthy life in a work optional setting is enough for now.

Here are my net worth totals for the end of November.

October 2021 Net Worth

Here are my net worth totals for the end of October.

Another great month! I picked up $35K during October and this marks the 5th consecutive month in the double comma club.

The markets continue to defy gravity and are up roughly 25% for the year.

November won't be so rosy as I have spent quite a bit on home renovations. Spending money to add small/large pleasures from time to time is what life is all about. Hoarding money and just watching numbers increase on a spreadsheet seems a bit more strange to me now.

Hope all is well with everyone out there!

August 2021 Net Worth

Here are my net worth totals for the end of August.

I'm now comfortably above the 1M mark (until a market correction). Good all around month and year so far.

Now that I'm over 3 1/2 years into retirement I am starting to see how the next 30-40 years will unfold. Taxable accounts continue to hold up and provide daily income and more than cover my expenses. Retirement accounts also grow nicely and along with SS, I should be in really good shape in the decades to come.

July 2021 Net Worth

Here is last of my past due updates. At the end of July my net worth ended at $1,017,133. The trajectory since March 2020 has been straight up. Unbelievable movement!

While I'm excited about making the $1,000,000 mark for a second straight month, It's most likely going to be short lived as I am about to buy a pool. The payments ($50,000ish) will be made over the next few months. If I have a really good back half of the year, I made hold the $1,000,000 mark, but realistically the S&P 500 would have to add to it's 18% gain and finish up close to 25-30% for me to hold the line.

No matter...I have been enjoying my life like never before and sometimes you just have to say "Fuck It"

June 2021 Net Worth --- Double Comma Club

A few days before my 50th birthday I finally hit $1,000,000 in net worth. There was a time 20 years a go that I never thought that I would hit that number even if I continued working through age 65.

This number is nice, but the fact that I was able to hit it 3 1/2 years after retirement is even nicer. Despite spending in excess of $150,000 since retirement, my net worth has actually increase by $100,000 which means that my portfolio is growing on average $6,000+ per month before expenses.

Even nicer is knowing that my 401k is very close to be accessible, if needed. Also nice is knowing that Social Security (again, if needed) is accessible in less than 12 years.

The multi-stage rocket ship is operating very efficiently and escape velocity is close to being reached. I'll just keep enjoying the view along the journey

May 2021 Net Worth

May was another positive month. Based on the dealerships having virtually no inventory, my 65k mile Jeep Wrangler has a much higher value than I have reported. In time as the value fall back down below $14k I'll start depreciating it again accordingly.
