Today I purchased shares of PM and CAT

  • PM:  50 shares @ $81.95 --- Yield  4.88%
  • CAT:  50 shares @ $80.25 --- Yield  3.49%

Total capital invested is $8130 including commissions and the combined yield is 4.19%. These two purchases will add $340.65 to my yearly dividends.

PM is now my largest position followed by T, BP, and GE. Forward dividends are now back above $15,000.

    1. DH,

Addicting is a fair way to describe things. I am more interested in making up the lost ground with the ESV cut. My plans were to slowly add this month and next, but my taxes are looking better than I originally thought.

  2. MDP,

Keep it up. Never been able to bring myself to buy PM, but it is an awesome stock. CAT has been one I have wanted for a while along with DE. In my job heavy equipment is used fairly regularly between projects - and operators have never said anything bad about CAT systems.

    1. DG,

Thanks for the insight. CAT is fairly cyclical so it could drop quite a bit further, but that is ok as I would just continue adding more shares. At 3.5% yield it looks very good to me.

  3. MDP, that's some serious kicking ass and taking names. I would have pulled the trigger on CAT near $80 this morning as well if funds were available. Nice moves!

    1. DWC,

Yeah that ESV cut has put me behind pace. I should have bought PM a couple weeks ago at 80, but this is a decent price and CAT is near the yearly lows.

    2. MDP, I got hit hard by ESV as well so I feel your pain. All you can do is keep pushing ahead.

  5. Great pickups MDP. Talk about making a statement. You weren't going to let the recent dividend cuts get you down. So happy to hear you are back above $15k in forward dividends.

    1. FD,

The ESV cut was an annoyance as I dropped over $600 in yearly income. These two purchases gets half the loss back. Hopefully by the end of April, I will be back in the up 15K range.....with more reliable payers.

Yeah I came out of hibernation today, but will slow back down and hopefully resume bigger purchases in May.

  8. I'm strongly considering opening a position in PM, and I nearly bought some today as a matter of fact but added to my existing PNY position instead. I'd like to add PM to my portfolio soon though, I think it would compliment my shares in MO.

    1. Captain,

PM was touching $80 a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted better visibility on my tax situation. It may drift back down a couple of bucks. I think anything around 5% yield looks very enticing.

  9. Nice buys MDP...both stocks are high on our radar. Definitely candidates for March purchases.

And way to add another $340 to your annual dividends! Keep up the momentum. AFFJ

    1. AFFJ,

Yeah the $340 gets more than half of my ESV loss back. I will slow things down for the next couple of months.

    1. Ryan,

$8K a week huh? I would need to invest in a coffin at that rate. :-) I will go back into semi hibernation mode for a couple of more months. I just couldn't resist picking up the two great companies.
