Weekly Sharebuilder Purchases

Here are my automatic investments for this week.

  • PM:  3.63 shares @ $82.76 --- Yield  4.83%
  • CVX:  2.85 shares @ $105.25 --- Yield  4.07%
  • CAT: 3.60 shares @ $83.31 --- Yield  3.36%
  • XOM:  3.43 shares @ $87.38 --- Yield  3.16%

Total capital invested is $1200 ($300 in each company). The combined yield is 3.86% and my yearly dividends will increase by $46.26.

Here we go again. Another new month and time to continue climbing the mountain to financial freedom. It looks like energy companies are drifting lower so I am happy to pick up shares of two giants in the industry. PM and CAT continue to look like solid values and I will keep adding shares at these levels and lower.

Companies on my watchlist for next week include the four above along with HCP, APU, BAX, JNJ, and SO.

Recently I have seen a couple of people use the following phrase. I really like it!!!

DEFY MEDIOCRITY

    1. AG,

Yeah, I think I am going to end each post with those two words. I added adsense around Christmas.

  2. MDP,

    Solid stocks up there.

I think anyone who is out to achieve financial independence at a relatively young age is definitely defying mediocrity. :)

    Best regards!

    1. DM,

FI independence early in life is not only defying mediocrity, it is leaving it for dead!

    1. FFF,

Hopefully we can keep adding at even lower prices.

  4. I own PM and CVX and both are attractively valued right now. I am looking to add my positions in both these stocks sometime soon.

    1. DGJ,

I'm happy to be a fellow shareholder. I plan to continue adding to these two positions for years to come.

  5. Great pickups. It's interesting to see that the energy sector is volatile again.

    1. Tawcan,

I agree. I would like to continue adding to XOM, RDS-b, CVX, and BBL for the next several months.

  6. MDP, we are on the same page with our buys today. I have a hard time saying no to PM at these levels. I have a feeling we will look back in a few years and smile at our buys in the low $80's. And be pissed we didnt buy more.

    Cheers, AA

    1. AA,

It's always good to be on the same page with you! I have been tempted to make a large PM purchase and still may. I almost bought $5k a couple of Fridays ago when it was touching $80. Once my tax situation become clearer, hopefully in the very near future, I will start buying more aggressively.

  7. Nice buys MDP! Way to add another $46+ to your passive income stream (i.e. dividend pipeline!). I have some work to do but would definitely like to eventually add capital at similar frequency as you do. Keep up the momentum my friend.

    Wishing you continued success! AFFJ

    1. AFFJ,

I can't wait to see you pick up the pace. I hope to add more aggressively in the next couple of months as well. Maybe sooner if my taxes aren't too bad.

  8. Congrats on some great pickups here. I'm anxious to see if I'll get another chance at energy since I missed it last time. Thanks for the update!

    1. Ryan,

Not a bad thing missing out. I jumped in too soon, but that is ok as I plan to continue averaging down.

  9. Great phrase. :) Challenge the ordinary to become extraordinary. I'm looking at JNJ as well, but it's hard to pick a good entry point. By the way I'm polling PF bloggers for a future blog post idea. If you know your Myers-Briggs personality type would you mind sharing it with my readers? I'll link your results back to your site. I'm an INTJ by the way :D

    1. Liquid,

I hope you and I both get a better entry point with JNJ. I really do love that phrase. Short and direct! I don't think I have ever taken that personality test, but I have taken a few. The last one I took was about 12 years ago and I remember the color choices were blue, green, yellow and red. Blue was a passive type, yellow was analytical, green was outgoing, and red was competitive. I was red in that test.

    2. Interest testing mechanic. I haven't seen that version based on colors yet. If you'd like to find out your MBTI personality type you can take this online quiz. http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp
Just let me know once you get your result and I'll add you in my upcoming post. :D

  10. MDP,

Really digging the pick up on CAT -- picked some up yesterday too at a smidge lower price. Nice work overall, scooped up some HCP. About time - Sunday I may have a purchase article out! Great job killing it with the consistent purchases.

    1. Lanny,

Thanks buddy. I went a bit stronger into CAT on Thursday. Great job with HCP. I bought shares back in 2013 when rates shot way up. It is starting to look pretty good again!
