May 2017 Net Worth

I finally decided to put out a monthly net worth statement. Ultimately passive income is my focus, but it is nice to see the overall balance sheet. There is much more to my financial profile than the hundreds of dollars received each month. So here are the numbers as computed from Mint.com.

Assets

Checking --- $4,242
Savings --- $120,178
Lending Club --- $10,185
HSA --- $1,850
Brokerage --- $240,129
IRA --- $8,997
401K --- $311,976
House --- $137,452

Liabilities

None

Net Worth

$835,009

There is no down time when building a path that doesn't lead back to ZERO!

    1. AFFJ,

It's really difficult to believe that I am this close to being a millionaire. Like many have said before, it's just a number. It is damn hard getting that first million.

  3. Fantastic work! Why do you have so much cash in savings though? Is there a downpayment you are trying to make or simply enjoy a lot of dry powder should the occasion arrive?

    1. TMB,

Well I sold out of everything at the end of 2015 because of a divorce. I have rebuilding the portfolio back and have not completely rushed back in. I would imagine that by the end of next year my cash position will likely be around 30-40k.

  7. Looks like you recovered very quickly after your costly separation. I'm just wondering why $120K in savings while you could invest this? 120K seems a little high for emergency funds.

    2. Mr.W has over $300K, he's been waiting for a correction since ... all the time. That man is not going to invest anything. LOL :)

I can understand his view point. That 2008-2009 recession made many people feel the same way....including me for a while ;)

    2. Sorry to hear that. Why not use your after tax monies to pay for those expenses? Gives a chance for you HSA money to grow tax free. I am not an expert, sorry if its a newbie question.

    3. dG,

Well I guess I just figured that's what the money is for so why not use it. I plan to build it back up pretty quick....barring another injury or illness. :)

  9. So close to seven figures. If the markets doesn't correct, which I wish it would so we dividend minded people could get some more deals, you might make it in a year or two. Congrats on the journey!

    1. DD,

Yeah it's a weird feeling with the markets. I want them to come down so I can deploy more cash, yet I want to reach the 1 million mark as well. The conflict is real!
