The recent run up in oil prices has given a good opportunity to lighten my position.
- RDS-b: 157.89 shares @ $46.24
- WMT: 42.09 share @ $66.21
Total proceeds from these transactions is $10,073.81. My yearly dividends will decrease by $676.16.
I was a little under water in both companies and I can use the short term loss to help lower my options gains.
In a perfect world 31 days from now both will be trading 20% lower. :-)
DEFY MEDIOCRITY
A 20% drop would be fabulous. Mediocre quarterly results might just do the trick. Find a way to get Amazon drone delivery back into the headlines and WMT will probably sell off again.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that this weeks rising market gave me an emotional boost...until this afternoon, when I couldn't find a stock ripe for the taking. Damn Iran; they could have waited a bit longer before agreeing to freeze oil output.
ADY,
DeleteIt looks like WMT is falling pretty hard today. I didn't have many shares, but it looks like I picked a good day to unload. What happens in the coming months is anyone's guess.
It also looks like another weak dividend raise.

WMT 20% hard to believe but I will take it, awesome it will be at @54$. I sold put PM today with the same hope to get back in lower in later.
ReplyDeleteJigar,
DeleteIt has been very difficult to find a good entry point for PM recently. The same can be said for most food and beverage companies as well. It looks like WMT may drift back down into the 50s. I sure hope so!
MDP
You sold out of WMT?! *GASP*
ReplyDeleteKidding - you've got to do what you've got to do sometimes and maybe you're right. Maybe the prices will drop and you'll get lucky! If there is a time to do it, it's definitely now. Once the results come back for this quarter, you could see a good drop and find a cheaper way to buy back in.

DM,
DeleteI know, I know. I really hate selling anything right now, but I wanted to use some companies I had short term losses in to offset some short term gains.

I like these sells. I've been thinking of selling my WMT and BP shares. I think that WMT is in for a longer than usual decline in share price. The company needs to figure out a way to compete with Amazon. As for BP, I am considering selling because it's even for me (no loss) and my exposure to oil is too high. Thanks for sharing.
