October 2016 Recap

Here is the summary of the dividends I received in my taxable account.

  • DEO --- $53.54
  • M --- $37.75
  • KO --- $28.00
  • TUP --- $20.40
  • VIAB --- $16.00
  • NEA --- $6.90

Total dividends received for October are $162.59.

Well after laying goose eggs in April and July, I finally kicked down the door (LIKE THE WORLD CHAMPION CHICAGO CUBS!!!!), and earned some money to start the fourth quarter.  As always, I reinvested all the dividends back into the companies paying them.

As you can see I also added $5893.98 in fresh new capital which increased my forward dividends by $225.00.

I would love to have added more, but I had to under ACL surgery last month and obviously was preoccupied with that whole situation....and will be for months to come no doubt!!

Anyway I love the results from last month and hope to tickle $5000 in forward dividends by year end. We'll see how it goes.

Forward dividends are around $4300.

  1. Awesome job for the month. Going from goose egg to $163 is great. All those buys you have been making are really starting to catch up and help you rebuild that passive income stream. Keeping busy with the buys is nice to see too as many have sold out or partially sold their dividend portfolios. Speedy ACL recovery!

    1. DivHut,

I too have noticed quite a few bloggers selling off much of their positions as well. There are no doubt many reason behind the decisions. I know first hand since I did the same thing about a year ago while going through a divorce.

I plan to keep adding mostly to current positions, but I have few new ones I am eyeing as well.

  2. MDP,

Nice month, sorry to hear about the ACL. A little over a month ago I had a nasty grade II sprain (likely lateral and high) on my ankle, still not back to the point where I can run. So hopefully you're like me, and lifting mainly upper body!

Keep crushing that market though, loads of buying opportunities out there.

    1. DG,

Yeah I had a high ankle sprain 2 years ago that sidelined my running for a couple of month. This ACL surgery is much worse from a pain and range of motion perspective, but through rehab I'll be back with light duty running in 3 months or so.

  3. Good job you are bringing those dividends up and they will continue to come up as dividends are reinvested and adding more

  4. You just put timing the market factor out of the equation there.

    Salute.

    1. B,

Absolutely!! I have no idea if/when a big crash is coming or how long the duration will be. I might add a little more after a significant drop (10% or more) but otherwise I will add to my portfolio each month.

  5. Congrats on a fine month. I really like how much money you put into the market. That fresh capital will certainly help your future dividend income increases.

    1. OH,

Thanks for stopping by! I feel like while the market is high, the growth/high beta rotation is causing the traditional dividend payers to finally come down a bit. I'm ready!!
