Recent Buy --- BBL

It's been a while since I owned this one.

  • BBL:  100 shares @ $32.87 --- Yield  4.87%

Total capital invested is $3293.75 and will add $160.00 to my yearly dividends.

The dividend has been a yo-yo in recent years being as high as $2.48 to as low as $.56. Currently the yearly dividend sits at $1.60. I'll double the position if it falls into the $20s and live with the dividend uncertainty.

Forward dividends are around $8050.00.

Very interesting purchase. What is your main reason for buying MDP? Curious! Rollercoaster for sure.

    1. Lanny,

Looking at my energy weighting, I noticed that I'm around 10% or so. While BHP is not a pure energy play it was hammered along with many other oil related companies during the past few years. This company isn't going anywhere and I'll just deal with the bouncing dividend.

The recent increase from $.28 to $.80 is also quite impressive after a massive cut last year I believe. BP, Shell, BHP, XOM will be companies that I hold on to, DRIP, and add shares during crisis situations.

Speaking of crisis situations, I'm looking really hard at Target. It's yield is over 4.5% right now. That right up there with utilities!

    2. What about COP as far as energy plays seems like alot of good stuff coming from them.

    3. AG,

COP is definitely interesting. Not as stable as XOM or Shell, but a better growth story. Dividends are rocky with them as well.

  3. I picked up a few shares myself. Nice buy! I like the diversification. But most of all, the pound vs us will at some point appreciate, and the share will get back up. I agree with you that it might goes into the $20s. If that is the case, I don't mind picking up some more shares.

    Thanks for sharing your pick.
