Recent Buys --- WFC & MSFT

Today I added some more shares to a few of my holdings.

• WFC:  35 shares @ $44.80 --- Yield  3.39%
• MSFT:  32 shares @ $48.21 --- Yield  2.99%

Total capital invested is $3124.56. These purchases have a combined yield of 3.18% and will add $99.28 to my yearly dividends.

This brings my Microsoft share count up to 82 and my Well Fargo share count is now 135 shares. I love having these two 800 lb gorillas in my portfolio. It's hard to believe that Microsoft is now yielding 3%. If MSFT drops much more in price or MO appreciates a little more, you could have a situation where Altria has a lower yield than Microsoft.....Wow talk about bizarre.

Forward dividends are $2600.

Here are several purchases that I made today....mostly new positions.

• GM:  60 shares @ $28.36 --- Yield  5.36%
• TUP: 30 shares @ $53.45 --- Yield  5.09%
• VIAB:  40 shares @ $40.99 --- Yield  3.90%
• TROW:  23 shares @ $69.94 --- Yield  3.09%
• GS:  12 shares @ $141.98 --- Yield  1.83%

Total capital invested is $8291.82. The combined yield on these purchases is 3.83% and will add $317.80 to my yearly dividends.

Forward dividends @ $2500.

I love days like today. I wish I had grabbed some EMR and MSFT,  Maybe we'll get some more great opportunities next week. Have a great weekend everyone.

Recent Buy --- GILD

Today I initiated a position in GILD.

• GILD:  25 shares @ 81.56 --- Yield  2.31%

Total capital invested is $2045.93 and will add $47 to my yearly dividends. This is the third drug company in my portfolio. I also own shares of PFE and ABT. Considering the ultra low payout ratio, this is a pretty solid starting yield. 

I'll be adding more shares if they drop down into the $70s.

Forward dividends are now hovering around $2200.

The amounts below are cash amounts and are net of taxes, insurance, 401k contributions, HSA, etc. In other words, the amounts are what get deposited and withdrawn from my accounts.

Day job (take home pay) --- $9981
Dividends/Interest --- $115

Total net income --- $10096

Expenses --- $7843 (Taken from Mint)

Savings  $2252 --- Rate  $22.31%


Damn, I have got to start getting the spending back under control. It seems like there is always some kind of justifiable excuse for high spending each month recently. In May, the "excuses" were my birthday and my girlfriend's birthday.

Between the two, we spent over $2500! Enjoying four days on the ocean in a beach house was really awesome though! While I hate the expenses incurred, the experiences are definitely worth it. Hopefully I can continue to enjoy new experiences. I plan to visit Disney World for the first time ever in a few month and am really looking forward to it.

Anyway, I don't wan't to be in a wheel chair 35 years from now with $5,000,000 in the bank and no "experience deposits" to show for it. If it means working a few more years, so be it. I want a good balance of money and life experiences. It's a work in progress, but progress is being made!

As far as June goes, expenses are still a bit elevated, but income should be stronger as well.

Castle wall construction continues --- DEO & KO

Today I opened a position in DEO and KO.

• DEO:  15 shares @ $103.02 --- Yield  3.34%
• KO: 40 shares @ $44.47 --- Yield  3.15%

Total capital invested is $3337.90. The combined yield is 3.22% and will add $112 to my yearly dividends.  I wouldn't say KO is particularly cheap here, but it never hurts to add some shares each year. I started with a relatively small position and will add more on weakness.

I almost bought DEO around $100 a couple of days ago, but went with Wells instead. Both DEO and KO are fairly defensive in nature and should be reliable payers for years to come.

Recent Buy --- WFC

Today I added to my Wells Fargo position.

• WFC:  50 shares @ $46.97 --- Yield  3.24%

Total capital invested is $2355.40 and will add $76.00 to my yearly dividends.

This brings my total share count up to 100 shares. I will probably not add to this position for a while as I am currently trying to further diversify my portfolio.

Other companies on my radar right now include DEO, UL, AXP, BA, and BP.  I will most likely buy DEO first as it is hovering around multi-year lows.

First June Purchase --- 3 Dimes on GM

Today I added shares of GM to my portfolio.

• GM:  100 shares @ $30.19 --- Yield  5.03%

Total capital invested is $3025.94 and this will add $152.00 to my yearly dividends. I have owned shares of GM on and off over the last two years around the $29-31 price range and viewed today's drop as a good re-entry point.  I was also watching NKE and Shell. They had big drops early but rebounded as the day went on. One other industrial I would love to buy again is BA. I will be patiently waiting for a price below $120.
