Weekly Purchases

Here are my automatic investments for this week.

  • KMI:  6.97 shares @ $35.88 --- Yield  5.46%
  • CVX:  2.66 shares @ $93.99 --- Yield  4.55%
  • XOM:  3.05 shares @ $82.08 --- Yield  3.56%
  • IBM:  1.53 shares @ $163.80 --- Yield  3.17%

Total capital invested is $1000 ($250 in each company).  The combined yield on these purchases is 4.19% and will add $41.85 to my yearly dividends.

Just like clockwork, IBM falls off a cliff the day after earnings. I love the yield and the low payout ratio. Now if they can get their act together and start growing revenues everything will be great. If not, I just added shares of Alcoa with a better yield. :-)

It has been well over a year since I have added to my Kinder position and this price is still quite a bit higher than my basis. Even so, this is the highest yield that I can remember thanks to constant dividend increases.

I finally closed out my BP covered call yesterday and made a $46.60 profit.

I also added $500 to my Lending Club account that should be available to invest tomorrow.

Stocks on my radar......big oil, and others near their 52 week lows.

    1. DH,

The slow grind continues. It looks like you have been really active on your side. That's always good to see!

  2. I invested $1K each today: HAS, FTR, UL and INTC at Loyal 3. Waiting for the oil stocks to cut their dividends before reentry - sold them all late June/early July of last year. Looks like CVX has frozen their dividend. IBM looks interesting, have been tempted many times in the last year or so but just can not pull the trigger.

    1. Got a $2K buy order in each for AAPL, MSFT and the BUFF IPO for tomorrow at Loyal 3. Will have to send more cash over there also. Tapped out..

    2. Anonymous,

Looks like Microsft and Apple will be trading down quite a bit today. I am getting closer to re-entering a position in Intel.

    3. Bought more CAT sub $80 and more KO sub $41 this AM. Received 100 shares of the BUFF IPO at $20 ea. Tapped out now. Sold CB and all ready blew through all that dough.

  3. MDP, you are truly fearless. I admire your conviction on the energy stocks and IBM.
These are good companies, so I think in the long term you will be well rewarded.
I will try to add a few more energy stocks and industrials myself.

Fearless or reckless. There is a fine line between the two. No worries though. Everything is a long term holding so I don't sweat price drops too much. I just keep adding.

  4. Keep on killing it man! KMI has been a real machine for me, especially considering its growth over the last 2 years since I first got it.

    1. DG,

If KMI gets back down to the low 30s I will go in a bit stronger. I love this company!

  5. Man I can't believe that KMI is trading this low. If they didn't make up such a large part of my portfolio and dividends then I'd gladly add here. But if the share price dips much more then I'll probably pick up a few more shares. You consistency in your purchases is awesome. And of course picking out excellent companies helps too!

    1. PIP,

I know what you mean. We are below pre-consolidation levels. I plan to add more in the low 30s. Hopefully we get the opportunity.

  6. Every Tuesday, I am checking on your blog to see what you got. Every time, you never failed to make some purchases : amazing! :)
Great buys. I also got some more XOM today. IBM looks interesting, I had not noticed the price falling... I am also considering CAT soon potentially.

    1. Adam,

Great job adding more Chevron. I will continue to add as well. It may take a while to pay off, but it will over time add a ton of dividends to your income stream.

  9. Hi DPI, do you have a max limit you will invest in each share. Mine is $20K and I'm fully invested in XOM, CVX, KMI. I have 24 USA shares and 21 UK listed shares. Danger is that I'm tempted to break my self enforced limit if prices keep falling but part of me says I should stick with my strategy. At least as the shares reinvest at lower prices I will receive more shares. Reg, Jon

    1. Anonymous,

Right now I don't have any position over $15k, but in time I plan on having many at 15-20. My highest positions are T, HCP, PM, TGT, and BP.

  10. All great purchases especially the energy and KMI in particular. Best time to buy is when people are fearful and with oil prices continuing to fall, people continue to be fearful. I still can't wrap my head around IBM after this recent earnings. Still have great cash flow but still can't seem to figure out a pathway for growth. The upcoming years will hopefully paint a better picture.
