Recent Buy --- WFC

Today I added to my Wells Fargo position.

  • WFC:  50 shares @ $46.97 --- Yield  3.24%

Total capital invested is $2355.40 and will add $76.00 to my yearly dividends.

This brings my total share count up to 100 shares. I will probably not add to this position for a while as I am currently trying to further diversify my portfolio.

Other companies on my radar right now include DEO, UL, AXP, BA, and BP.  I will most likely buy DEO first as it is hovering around multi-year lows.

  1. Great buy DP. I have been waiting for WFC to come back down to these levels before starting my purchasing again. I will probably wait a couple more weeks to see if these lows are broken since I already own a decent sized position. I did start a position in DEO today at 100.

    1. MrStockFox,

Nice grab of DEO! I had a limit order at $99.75 that didn't get filled. :( The next time I glanced at it, DEO was over $101. I still really like it in the low $100 as it continues bouncing around 52 week and multi-year lows.

  2. WFC is definitely attractive here. It's never a bad idea to buy a high quality company at the lows.

    1. RR,

Absolutely! A lot of the Canadian banks have had strong runs, it's nice to sell Wells trading down a little. By the way, I like the new site you have. Are you going in a different direction with the content?

    2. Thanks. I'm going to try to be a bit broader in content. Some mix of sharing my family's journey, thoughts on financial topics, and investment strategies in real-time. Hoping to mix a life recap/scrapbook with finance and early retirement stuff. I read a few sites that attempt it and it makes the reader feel like a close friend rather than a student. It may not work and might deter a few readers, but that's ok. In many ways, I see the new site as a passion project/gift for my wife and daughter. A way to look back on our life and what we were thinking/doing...in a non-Facebook setting with more than just pictures.

The goal is to sort of mix bumfuzzle.com with Mr. Money Mustache.

I hope you give the new site a try for at least the first little while.

  3. I am a new dividend investor so my opinion doesn't carry any real weight but just wanted to say I think this was a great buy also. I've just started and had already analyzed WFC and was planning to buy and then saw that both you and Div4Son bought recently. I'm enjoying your blog and the blogroll!

    1. Papa Div,

Thanks so much for commenting! WFC looks like a decent value here and is a better alternative than the Canadian banks in my opinion. I also am looking at AXP and GS in the financial sector. Both are near their yearly lows. Good luck with you investing!
